1957 Harmony Stella H929-3/4 Terz/Size 5 Guitar
This fella is the cute, 3/4-size cousin of the normal H929 Stella model that we all know and love. Unlike most of those, however, it shipped from the factory with a pin bridge setup rather than a tailpiece one. It's solid birch throughout the body, ladder-braced, has a short "terz" scale length, and adorable looks. It also has an endearing, woody, clunky sound to it. You'd be surprised at how much playtime this has gotten since hanging it up in the racks a few weeks ago.
My guys Tim and Jose did most of the work on this as I recall, though I did the neck reset to begin-with. The guitar is all-original, too, save a new bone nut and the bridge. The original bridges on these are garbage mysterywood stuff that's bolted to the top but we had this old (Kay or Harmony, I think?) 1950s Brazilian rosewood bridge (with "tie block" load just like the original) in the old-bridges pin and it was perfect for the guitar so we fit this instead.
Post-repairs it plays spot-on and is ready to serve. It's been stable in service, too. We have it tuned to standard pitch with 54w-12 gauges but it would also sound great using lighter gauges and tuned up to G or even A over normal E-to-E tuning.
Repairs included: a neck reset, replacement bridge, new nut, fret level/dress, side dots install, cleaning, and setup work.
