『Scarlet』レビュー（ミレニアル・マイク） • Letterboxd

要するに、この物語はハムレットを模した「暴力のサイクル」の物語です。

この映画で最も好きな点は、英雄から敵対者、若者から年配者まで、男女すべてのキャラクターが尊厳を表現している点です。

象徴と図像を非常にうまく活用しており、私はそれにとても騙されています。

私は常に復讐の物語に興味があり、好きな復讐物語のいくつかは日本のものです。ほとんどの場合、復讐は自分自身に害を及ぼすものとして描かれますが、ここでも例外ではありません。西側メディアでは、正義を制定することや、個人や団体に対して永遠に恨みを抱くことに関するメディアが非常に多くあります。憎しみや憤り、和解できない傷、世代間のトラウマ、報酬を求める露骨で覆するテーマが数多くありますが、実際の癒しはほとんどありません。すべての問題は自分自身の外で解決しなければなりません；すべての問題は社会的、経済的、外在的な問題であり、叩き潰すか、あるいは置き換える必要があります。癒しが内面的にしか起こらず、肉体的な闘いが永続的な解決をもたらさない個人的な旅路を見ることができて、心地よかったです。

この物語は理想主義的で、皮肉的な骨格は身にありません。多くの人にとって、皮肉が全くないこの物語は多くの人の目を転がすだろうと思いますが、私にとっては本当に心に留まりました。この理由の一つは、キャラクターの痛みと闘いを生々しく示すからです。本当の苦しみが存在しないかのように装おうとしているわけではありません。この映画の唯一の目的は、空虚な快適さではなく、残酷さに直面したときの忍耐です。

技術的な観点から見ると、映画は素晴らしかったです。ご覧になるどのアニメーションとも異なります。CGの使用は独特で、慣れるまでに1分ほどかかります。また、目撃しているものが良いものかどうか疑問に思うことがありました。CGが本来あるべきほど効果的でない瞬間があると思いますが、これは非常に稀であり、このアニメのそのスタイルは、私が技術的な問題と見なすことができたものを覆しました。

In a nutshell, the story is a "cycle of violence" story fashioned after Hamlet. 

What I love most about this movie is how it dignifies all its characters, from its heroes to its antagonists, from its young to its old, its men and its women. 

It uses symbolism and iconography very well, which I'm a sucker for. 

I'm always interested in stories of revenge, and some of my favorite revenge stories are from Japan. Almost always, revenge is portrayed as something damaging to oneself, and here it is no exception. In Western media, there is so much media about enacting justice, holding grudges against individuals and groups forever. There are so many overt and subvert themes of hatred and indignation, irreconcilable wounds, generational trauma, demanding recompensation, but so very little actual healing. Every problem has to be solved outside of oneself; every issue is a societal, economic, extrinsic issue that needs to be punched, destroyed, or replaced. It felt good to see a personal journey where healing could only happen internally and physical struggle would not yield permanent resolution. 

The story is idealistic and has not a cynical bone in its body. For many, I think the story, which holds no cynicism within itself, will have many people's eyes rolling, but it really landed for me. A reason for this is that it shows the character's pain and struggle in all of its rawness. It isn't trying to pretend like real suffering doesn't exist. The movie's only goal isn't hollow comfort but perseverance in the face of cruelty.

From a technical standpoint, the movie looked great. Different than any animation you are going to see. The use of CG is unique, it takes a minute to get used to it and there were times when I questioned if what I was witnessing was good. I think there are moments where the CG is not as effective as it ought to have been but it's so rare and the sheer style of this anime overruled anything I could have perceived as a technical issue.

I can't recommend this enough.
